Sand Blasted at Arches

Here is a series taken in Arches National Park and surrounding Moab area. On the way to Denver to take care of some business, I routed myself into the Moab area for a couple of days to add some enjoyment to an otherwise whirlwind trip.

I arrived in the Moab area in mid-morning and being Memorial day weekend, I luckily found a spot to camp about 20 miles outside of town out by Fisher Tower on the Onion Creek Road. The entire area was crowded with the holiday weekend tourists.

I struggled to set up my tent in a strong wind and then left for Arches National Park completely expecting to return after dark to a new neighbor in an RV with generators running parked right next to me.

The day was spent looking for little isolated pockets within the park where I could explore areas I had not yet been and trying to avoid the massive crowds. The continuous gale force winds, hammered me all day long and kicked up great amounts of sand which created very hazy skies and pelted my exposed skin like many tiny needles.

It turned out to be a very enjoyable day and all the debris flying in the atmosphere added color to the sunset.
