I had the opportunity to spend six glorious days in the paradise of coastal southern California. Paradise to me, as one who does not have the chance to enjoy the Pacific coast very often.
Days were filled with many activities. I tried the best I could to balance my time between family, fun and photography. Mornings on the coast were cool foggy and cloudy. Good time to enjoy hot coffee, review the previous days photos and socialize with family over breakfast. Then by mid morning, hop on the beach cruisers for a ride down the boardwalk to Newport Pier or beyond. By the time we returned mid day, the sun would be breaking out, and time to lounge on the beach soak in the rays and watch the kids as they built their castles in the sand.
After a few hours of cooking on the beach like a piece of meat on the rotisserie (constantly turning to even the browning), I would head back to the beach house. Time to get cleaned up and maybe squeeze in a little nap before thinking about heading out for the evenings shoot. The problem I had was that the golden hours for photography coincided with dinner time at the beach house. So I missed the gathering of everybody around the table on most evenings. The price I had to pay to get some great sunsets.
Evening photo shoots were split between a walk out to Balboa Pier, a beach cruiser ride to Newport Pier and the jetty, and a couple of nights I managed to borrow a car to head south to the more intimate coves around Little Corona and Crescent Bay.
All in all an absolutely beautiful stay in paradise!
Yay! Beautiful!!! xo
