Birthday At Arches

I awoke on my 56th birthday in a remote location in Canyonlands National Park…Can’t think of a much better way to start the day!

We had made the drive down the night before hoping to secure a cmp site at the Willow Flat Campground. But for the first time at that campground, we got skunked and all were taken due to it being Easter weekend and free entrance to the National Parks. Oh well, remote dispersed camping is just fine with me!

We spent the day making the very long drive down the Shaffer Trail back down to Moab and then hiking the 7 1/2 mile Primitive Loop Trail in the Devils Garden area of Arches Nation Park…One of my all time favorite hikes! After the day at Arches I was treated to dinner in Moab and a cozy stay at a Bed and Breakfast. All in all, a simply wonderful birthday weekend!
