A Final Dawn At Buffalo a Point

Here is a small series I shot on the last morning in Utah before moving out to Reno, NV. The inversion had been bad for the past week or two, but I was itching to get out with my new Canon 5D mark IV and 24-105 f4 L IS USM lens. I was up in time to make the hour drive up to Antelope Island and the short climb to the top of Buffalo Point by sunrise.

I have been out to Buffalo Point photographing on numerous occasions. I like the elevated perspective above the Great Salt Lake and the long sweeping arc of the White Rock Bay shoreline. Of course I had hopes for some nice sunrise light but found that the island was shrouded in fog. I made the most of what was presented, found some rock outcroppings for various compositions and tried to capture the dark brooding mood of this magical place…
