We arrived at one of our favorite little towns on the Oregon coast, Bandon. Or as the welcoming sign at the edge of town reads… Bandon By The Sea. We immediately fell in love with the charming little old town and has us rethinking where we might like to retire.
The 1850’s brought miners to the area after gold was discovered in nearby Whiskey Run Beach. And the town, built at the mouth of the Coquille River, was founded by an Irishman from Bandon, Ireland in the 1873.
We stayed in Bandon for three nights, which gave us two full days to taste the local flavor. And indeed we did at Tony’s Crab Shack. Some of tastiest and freshest crab you can find anywhere! And would give me a few opportunities to photograph the amazing coastline…
The morning after arriving, we got an early start and we were on the beach exploring around all the sea stacks during the golden hour. I, giddy with excitement photographed the scene, while Harmony searched the seaside for decorative little rocks for displaying back home. The rock formations have names such as Face Rock, The Wizard Hat, Table Rock, Cat and Kittens Rock, Elephant Rock and list goes on… What an amazing place… the hours just melted away!
