The morning golden hour had been nice on Bandon Beach, now the evening sun began to set and I was eager to see what I could capture. We accessed the beach again at the Face Rock Viewpoint as it drops you down right at the magnificent sea stacks.
Again it was another cloudless sunset with a fog bank out on the horizon. Sometimes with photography, you have to take the conditions you are given and try to make the best of it… I focused on photographing the area around The Wizards Hat, as the formations are about as dramatic as it gets. I found it amusing the way the seabirds seemed to pose perfectly still for the camera atop the rock formations.
As the sun set into the light fog bank on the horizon, I tried working a bit of my own wizardry with the camera. The haze allowed me to shoot directly towards the setting sun while maintaining the dynamic range. And again I used my 6-stop neutral density filter to extend out the exposure, and create the dreamy ethereal look to the images.
This series of images is among my favorite of the entire trip… Enjoy!
These are stunningly beautiful, sweetheart!
Thank you! They are some of my favorites from the trip!
