Bachalpsee
After breakfast at the hotel again, we caught the gondola up to First. The day was mostly clear and warm and the views from the cable car were stunning. To start we went and did the First Cliff Walk, here they have a walkway attached to the cliff side suspended over the void. It was fairly short but fun nonetheless.
Then we continued on up the hike to Bachalpsee (Bachalp Lake). An 8 mile out and back and the views of all the mountains and glaciers were amazing! We had lunch sitting on the man made dam and Harmony soaked her feet in the cool water.
I was feeling the cumulative exhaustion of the trip on top of the 8 miles we hiked and was moving pretty slow in the humid heat by the time we got back to Grindelwald. We rested in the hotel room for a couple of hours and then went out on the town for dinner.
Sadly all great adventures come to an end, but the memories will stay with us forever! It has been a trip of a lifetime and one to check off the bucket list. Even though we spent 3 weeks here, I can’t help but feel that we have only scratched the surface!
Tomorrow we begin the long journey home…
